Shelby McGowan first joined Kelly IP as a Student Associate in February 2020, and became an Associate in August 2022. Her practice focuses on trademark litigation and enforcement, as well as trademark clearance, prosecution, and general counseling for trademark and copyright matters.

Shelby graduated magna cum laude from American University Washington College of Law, where she served on the American University Law Review and was Co-President of the Evening Law Student Association. She received her B.A. magna cum laude in linguistics and psychology from Georgetown University. Prior to joining Kelly IP, Shelby managed a neurolinguistic research laboratory at the Center for Aphasia Research and Rehabilitation, where she worked with patients living with various language disorders.
